WEDNESDAY 6th NOVEMBER 2019
Last week we took time out from life at Project X to have so much needed family time!
We spent a few days with our parents and office dogs in a tiny cottage in the middle of the Snowdonia National park. We spent the evenings playing board games by the fire, the days walking and exploring the valleys. It was awesome to get away, without our laptops (that was harder for some than others!) and totally switch off for a little while. The only thing we had planned via to leaving was to climb a mountain – with a toss-up between Snowdon or Tryfan.
We only had two full days in Snowdonia, so we spent our first day exploring Betws-y-Coed and having a chilled day, whilst making a decision on which mountain we were going to climb. In the end, we chose Snowdon, so our parents and their dog could easily join us for a far chunk of the hike. In the evening we chose our route, packed our kit and got ready for an early start.
We set off early from our cottage to make a good start hiking before the mountain gets full up! We enjoyed the hike along the Miners Track as we went up, and as we approached halfway we said goodbye to our parents and continued on. It was a beautifully sunny day with clear skies, but as we got closer to the summit, we were soon in thick cloud and the further up we went the more snow there was. We made it to the top in great time, we had a quick family photo at the top and nipped into the cafe before heading back down!
We decided to go down the Llanberis Path as Tilly (George’s puppy) was getting tired. We leisurely made our way down, stopping at the Halfway Cafe for a quick sugar fix before meeting up with our parents at the bottom. When we got back to our cottage, we collapsed in front of the fire before heading home the following morning.
